Downriver Lawyer
My office is on Fort Street in Riverview, in the middle of Downriver. I serve people throughout Downriver, including Wyandotte, Trenton, Southgate, Taylor, Allen Park, Lincoln Park, Woodhaven, Romulus, and the towns in between. For many of them, the courthouse that has their case is a short drive away.
Every Downriver Town Has Its Own District Court
One thing that surprises people is that Downriver does not have one district court. Each court serves a set group of cities and townships, and each one runs a little differently. Some hold most hearings on Zoom, some default to in person, and each has its own way of taking payments. Knowing which court has your case is the first step.
- 23rd District Court, Taylor. Serves Taylor. It holds scheduled proceedings on Zoom unless your notice says in person. See my 23rd District Court page.
- 24th District Court, Allen Park, and 25th District Court, Lincoln Park. The 24th serves Allen Park and Melvindale. The 25th serves Lincoln Park, Ecorse, and River Rouge. See my 24th and 25th District Courts page.
- 27th District Court, Wyandotte. Serves Wyandotte and Riverview. See my 27th District Court page.
- 33rd District Court, Woodhaven. Serves Brownstown, Flat Rock, Gibraltar, Grosse Ile, Rockwood, Trenton, and Woodhaven. See my 33rd District Court page.
- 34th District Court, Romulus. Serves Romulus, Belleville, Huron Township, Sumpter Township, and Van Buren Township. See my 34th District Court page.
Each of those pages covers the court's address, phone number, hearings, and payments, and what to bring on your court date.
What I Handle for Downriver Families
Many criminal and traffic cases start in one of these district courts: drunk driving, suspended license, retail fraud, assault, domestic violence, drug possession, and probation violations. Felonies also begin in district court before moving on to the Wayne County Circuit Court. My criminal defense page explains more.
I also help Downriver families with divorce, custody, and child support through my family law practice, with wills, trusts, and estates through estate planning and probate, and with clearing old records or getting a license back through expungement and license restoration.
Local Doesn't Mean Limited

The courts and communities listed here are not a complete list. I handle cases in courts throughout Michigan, so if your case is somewhere else, call me and we can talk about it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which Downriver court has my case?
Look at your ticket, bond paperwork, or court notice. It names the court. In general, the court is based on the city or township where the case arose. For example, the 27th District Court handles cases from Wyandotte and Riverview, and the 33rd District Court handles cases from Trenton, Woodhaven, and nearby communities.
I got a ticket in one Downriver city but live in another. Does that matter?
Your case is usually heard in the court that serves the place where the ticket was written, not where you live. If you're not sure, call (734) 775-9327 and I can help you figure it out.
