24th and 25th District Courts: Allen Park, Melvindale, Lincoln Park, Ecorse, and River Rouge
A look at two neighboring Downriver district courts: the 24th District Court in Allen Park and the 25th District Court in Lincoln Park. It covers which cities each one serves, how hearings and 24th District Court payments work, adjournments, probation, and what to bring and avoid.
Which court handles my case in Allen Park or Lincoln Park?
The 24th District Court in Allen Park serves Allen Park and Melvindale. The 25th District Court in Lincoln Park serves Lincoln Park, Ecorse, and River Rouge. The 24th District Court in Allen Park
The 24th District Court's website says all criminal cases for people 17 or older begin in district court. The court explains the charges and your rights, and it sets bail. Misdemeanors punishable by up to one year are tried and sentenced here. Felonies get a preliminary examination here before moving to circuit court.
Hearings are livestreamed on Zoom, and everyone entering the building goes through security screening. The court is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., but it closes daily from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

How do I ask to move a court date in the 24th District Court?
The 24th District Court considers adjournment requests only for good cause, and they must be submitted in writing five days before your court date. Emergencies are considered with proof.
The traffic and criminal department can be reached at (313) 928-0535, ext. 225. The probation department is at ext. 242 or 243. Its officers meet with people on probation, help them get into required treatment, and check compliance. If someone falls out of compliance, a violation hearing may be scheduled.
To pay online or by phone, the 24th uses GPS with Pay Location Code 5441, or (888) 604-7888. Payments can take three business days to post, and GPS charges its own fee. The court says payment plans are available.
The 25th District Court in Lincoln Park
The 25th District Court serves Lincoln Park, Ecorse, and River Rouge. The court strongly encourages people to handle business without appearing in person when possible. When you call, press 1 for traffic and criminal, 2 for civil, or 3 for probation. The court is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
What to Bring, What to Avoid, and the Bottom Line
Bring your notice, your ticket or charging papers, and any bond paperwork. Make sure you know which of the two courts your case is in. The city where the stop or arrest happened usually decides that.
What not to do:
- Do not show up at the 24th over the lunch hour expecting the window to be open.
- Do not ask to adjourn a 24th District Court date at the last minute without an emergency.
Two courts, two sets of procedures. Check which one has your case and follow its rules.
